CRUTHU Art Fest
Russborough Art Fest 5th / 6th / 7th December
A great week-end was had by all. The weather was fine, frosty but no rain.
On Friday night Eric Blantchford form Russborough opened our exhibition, there was a good crowd of people, a bit of wine and some sales. On Saturday and Sunday nights there was a concert in the house, where during the interval those attending the concert, came though our exhibition.
Sunday was our best day for sales and people going through all day. A Special thanks, must go to Emily, Eoghan, and Paul who did trojan work to get all the exhibits so well displayed.

ART GROUP PUT TALENTS ON DISPLAY
Wednesday November 26 2008
CRUTHU Art Group will be holding an exhibition of their work next month in the beautiful surroundings of Russborough House.
Over 30 members will be exhibiting some unique and inspirational artistic pieces over the two days against the stunning backdrop of one of Wicklow's most well known historical houses.
' This is a huge undertaking for the group but I am very confident that the exhibition will be a great success and those who come to browse and view the work will be taken aback at the great talent which will be displayed,' said Mr. Paul Weafer the newly elected Chairman of the Cruthu Art Group.
Established at a meeting of people interested in arts and crafts just under three years ago in Blessington, the group has gone from strength to strength both in reputation through various exhibitions they have taken part in since its inception and in the numbers of members it has attracted.
It offers those interested in arts and crafts an outlet to meet other like minded people, to share a forum for discussion on the many forms and styles available.
The Cruthu Art Group also provides a social outlet by arranging classes , museum visits, theatre events and of course an opportunity to show their work in a professional yet friendly forum through the exhibitions the group hold throughout the year.
This year the membership stands at 60 members and is made up of both craft and art people at all levels of qualification. The members are looking forward to the exhibition at Russborough House which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7.
The garden cafe will also be open during the exhibition for a coffee and chat.
More details of the exhibition, membership and upcoming events can be found on the groups website www. cruthu. ie

Local artists put their work on show
Thursday August 03 2006
West Wicklow artists and Cruthu members exhibited their impressive range of works at Valleymount Hall over the weekend, with the exhibition proving a real winner with the public.
Cruthu were established some three months ago to try and forge links between the large amount of artists, both professional and amateur, spread out around the west of the county.
While a number of aims and objectives were outlined, one of their main priorities was at least two exhibition a year.
Twenty four artists, all with five pieces of art each on display, took part in the exhibition, with most also deciding to place their pictures on sale as well.
The opening reception took place on Friday as the public got the opportunity to mingle with the artists and their families.
However the real proof of the success of the exhibition was evident by the amount of people who turned up at the hall on Saturday and Sunday to see for themselves what the exhibition had to offer.
Cruthu allows the various artists living locally to give their input and bounce ideas of fellow members of the artistic community.

First exhibition by West Wicklow organisation Cruthu group will promote local art
Thursday August 03 2006
A new Community Art Organisation 'Cruthu' was set up recently to highlight the work of artists and craft workers in the West Wicklow area.
It is based in Blessington and is certainly a new exciting organisation with quite a variety of artists and craft workers from the young to the old registered with them.
The first of their exhibitions took place in Valleymount Community Hall last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It was officially opened by Michael Sargent, Chairperson of Blessington and District Forum, last Friday night before an invited audience.
The Exhibition which was open to the public on the Saturday and Sunday was well attended and well received by all who came along to it.
Cruthu has 22 signed up members ranging from full time artists and craft workers to those just beginning to explore their creativity.
The members work in a range of disciplines such as fine art painting, sculpture, wood turning, pottery, photography, candle making, mirror and clock making, wood carving and song writing.
They are already planning to expand the range of disciplines to include all forms of art and crafts.
